Welcome to Lego Club!

Please be aware that Lego Club changed its location from McCallum Room at Frisco Library to Boys and Girls Club of Collin County, which is located on McKinney Road close to Frisco Commons Park.

Lego Club takes place every last Friday of the month and it is best to reserve your family’s spot as soon as you are aware that your schedule will allow you to attend. This is a popular club with our FHIS youngsters and it fills up pretty quick!

After Lego Club, for those who are interested, we can go to the playground across the street for some more play time. They have renovated the park over the summer and it looks amazing! Bring some lunch or snacks and enjoy more fellowship with our homeschooling parents.

During our Lego Club meeting, your children may either build something ahead of time and bring it to share during ‘show and tell,’ or they can choose to build something while at club with other children. Most kids have their creations already built when they arrive, but either way, we’ll have some free-build time in the beginning, followed by show-and-tell by age. We will have  three age groups: 3-5, 5-8, and 9-12.

This is NOT a drop-off event, and parental participation is expected.

Children are given the opportunity to meet new friends, interact with others, share together, use imagination, and practice listening and speaking skills. It’s also a wonderful opportunity for parents to meet other FHIS homeschoolers! Depending on the mix of kids each month, older children may have the opportunity to ‘teach’ the younger ones how to create various simple objects; or, we may have games or a ‘contest’, with two groups creating lego scenes, utilizing teamwork.

***** As with all FHIS events, this is a parent-run activity. In order to make Lego Club work smoothly, I need three parents to volunteer to help with “Show-and-Tell” presentations each month. If you are willing to help, please include that in the comment box when you RSVP, along with the age group you will be helping with, so I can put you down as a parent helper.  Thank you! *****

 

CANCELLATIONS

THERE IS NO WAIT LIST for Lego Club.

All cancellations will be done by the club’s organizer, as the website’s system will not allow you to do so. If you do need to cancel, please contact me as soon as you are aware of it. This will open up spaces for anyone who was hoping to attend and could not. You might receive an automated email afterwards that informs you that you have actually signed up for the event, but, please, disregard it. Our administrators are working to fix the problem as we speak. Thank you for your understanding and I apologise in advance for  any inconvenience that it might create.

 

RSVP DETAILS

When you RSVP, please include the total number of people in your group, counting yourself and ALL children, even little ones. Don’t forget to mention if you can be a parent helper!
