Love the outdoors & wilderness?  Let’s go for hike with Ranger Rick at our local State Park!  He will guide us along the Lost Pines Trail and as we hunt to find animal tracks, scat (fancy word for droppings), burrows and more!  Afterwards we can explore the Interpretive Center.  We will hike a half mile trail that is unpaved and learn about our native state.  Wear suitable footwear such as tennis shoes or hiking books.  All ages are welcome but target age group would be elementary grades.  The trail might not be suitable for strollers, but baby wearing would be a great alternative.

NOTICE:  Poison Ivy & Stinging Nettle are likely off the side of the trail, but if we stay on the trail there will not be a problem.  You may just want to have a talk with your children about safety and listening carefully to Ranger Rick (he is really fun and interesting to listen too).  He will kindly educate parents and children what plants to watch out for.

COST:  The event is free and the fee for park admittance has been waived for our group.  This also gives you access to the state park for the day which includes walking trails paved and unpaved, picnic areas, children’s fishing pond or fishing off of the lake (no permit required for fishing within the state park), park, geocashe, and sandy beach with swimming access.  Bring your picnic lunch and spend the day!
